If you are retired or no longer able to work you may find the that the University of the Third Age (or U3A) provides plenty of opportunities to develop your interests in the company of others and there are plenty of groups across Dorset.
Lewes U3A is part of a national and international movement of older people who wish to keep their minds active and share their lifetime of experiences and knowledge. Lewes U3A was founded in 1985 and has grown into a thriving organisation with over 800 members.

We are a friendly walking group that arranges a regular programme of walks, social events, coach outings, and holidays for members. We also maintain rights of way in the area, provide courses for members on map reading and becoming walk leaders.
Each month we have a short relaxing ramble of 4-6 miles after lunch, normally starting at 14.00 on the third Saturday of the month , and a longer walk of 7-9 miles - but still not tooo strenuous - often with a pub lunch, usually starting at 11.00 on the first Sunday.
We are a friendly group of younger walkers aged from 20 to 49 who enjoy walking around the fantastic landscapes of East and West Sussex.

The Club has 16 tennis courts including 2 new indoor acrylic courts, 4 squash courts with a viewing balcony, two new netball courts and a flood-lit astro/hockey pitch. We cater for all levels from beginners to competition in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere so there is something for everybody. Club evenings and afternoons are organised for tennis and squash.
